Doctor of Philosophy in Industrial Organizational Psychology

The Department of Psychology at Clemson University offers a 4-5 year Doctorate program in Industrial & Organizational Psychology, training research scientists and teachers for academic and industrial settings. This program is designed to provide the student with the requisite theoretical foundations, skills in quantitative techniques and research design, and practical problem-solving skills to address human problems related to work. Students in the program benefit from research training in Clemson’s well-equipped Psychology laboratories.

The Ph.D. program is based on the scientist-practitioner model, following the guidelines for doctoral programs issued by the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) . Applicants who do not have a master’s degree may enter directly into the PhD program and earn the M.S. in the process. A specialization in Occupational Health Psychology is also offered as part of the program.
